| I found my Digit http://www.dogforums.com/2-general-d...-hurts-so.html (digits missing..hurts so bad)
I found my Digit. Not the way I dreamed of. Not the way it supposed to have happened in my mind...In the last months that passed I swore I wouldnt bring this thread back up until we had him home again. Last Wednesday..My new Digit searching freind from his Craigslist ad. She told me that on her way to work, She stopped to get gas at a convience store close by where Digit was last seen and saw the van. She watched until a woman came out the store and talked to her. The woman gave her the name and number. When she drove up and I saw the look on her face I knew something wasnt right. I called the woamn and found out my Digit died in his sleep on November 17th. I went to her house. I had so many questions. When I walked in, Nothing came out. She handed me pictures of him. She brought me to her back yard. I saw a beautiful scrolled wrought iron cross and a semi fresh grave. My life melted at that moment. everything came to a standstill. My baby is really gone. I sat with him for an hour, I prayed and cried and wished it wasnt really happening. I stared at the pictures hoping to see some kind of sign that it wasnt him in those pictures. The pictures showed me how old he was, how sad he was. The lady came outside after awhile and told me about their time together. How she found him, the scar he left on her hand when she chased him after hitting him with her van. She told me about how much he missed me. How he would lay on her bed and cry. She told me he loved me.
I know you guys are wondering how she didnt know after all the posters and newpaper ads and all the car washs and boyscouts. I didnt question as to why...all I could do was thank her profusely for taking him in. She is a pentecostal and dont have TV or read newspapers. She doesnt get out much either she said. All she knew to do was take him in.And for that I am grateful.
I may still bring him home.
I wasnt going to post...But I felt a lot of you had a right to know for being there for us when he left us. |

| Re: I found my Digit Oh, I am so sorry :/ I really don't know what to say, and I know words don't really help in these situations. I am glad you shared it with us though, I'm glad there is closure. It makes me happier hearing that you at least know where he is and what happened, that he isn't out there wandering anymore.
I hope you feel better in time digit, though I know it hurts so bad now.

| Re: I found my Digit V,
You know my feelings ..... I am soooo sorry that your search ended this way. We can only be thankful Digit was warm, had a soft place to sleep and his belly was full for the last few months. I know that doesn't make it hurt any less.

| Re: I found my Digit I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure this brings all the feelings back up and in a way makes it harder. But like others have said, you can rest easy knowing that he was taken care of instead of wandering around cold and hungry. And it will give some closure as well. There will always be questions unanswered I'm sure, but at least a couple of them have been answered for you. |

| Re: I found my Digit Oh my...me being relatively new here I had no Idea of Digits story...wow! I am SO sorry for your loss...Altleast now you know what happened and have some sort of "closure" to the situation. He knows you gave him the best life when you had him-that means alot what the lady told you about how he cried for you. |

| Re: I found my Digit I know that it hurts that Digit is now truly gone, but I am so thankful that he spent his last days well cared for and that his caretaker was so kind and so loving to you when you came to her house. |

| Re: I found my Digit I am very sorry about your loss. When I first read your post about DIGIT being missing, I admired your strength and envied your courage. I dont know if I will be half as strong as you. Thank god somebody at least took care of him and made sure he was ok for the remaining days of his life. Thank you for being such a wonderful mom to digit and for the inspiration you and digit gave to all of us here. Reading your post made me cry. But it also inspired me not to give up. Hugs to you. Digit is now at the other end of the rainbow, happy and at peace. |

| Re: I found my Digit thanks everyone...i made some phone calls to the troops and to all the little folks that helped me out trying to find him. They want to bring him home. I was going to do it today since I called the lady who has him to check if it would be ok. She said she didnt mind at all. The troops will be meeting after school for a ride up to the country to fetch him for me. They are going to bring my boy home.He will be in his place under the crepe myrtles. The birds will be welcome to sing again. The earth will be able to turn again.
I hope that everyone here in dogforum country realize how much your words mean to me. My Puddles and Iris may never meet thier brother. But because of him is why they are with me. Digit will live through them with me......safely..for the rest of thier lives. |
