Question Increase limit of Pics in threads/posts...

I've been a long time member on another dog forum, and they had a 4 pic limit for posts/threads as well...I suggested that it be increased to a more reasonable number. The smilies are being counted as an image, thus limiting the amount of smilies and pics that can be posted in one post.

My request on the other site went through, and they upped it to 10...do you think this site could make this change too? It would be great

Would be very beneficial to all the members on this forum for sure

I think that's a good idea too...the smilies always get me over the 4-limit count so I have to do multiple posts

Hey...while we're making suggestions...can we have more emoticons too?

I vote for more emoctions too - the ones we are limited to clearly cannot convey my sarcasm in its complete form.

Re: Increase limit of Pics in threads/posts...

Some people don't need emoticons to convery sarcasm.

Not to mention any names, BoXmeIn21.

I'll bet there are 20 or 30 users on this forum who use dial-up and would rather not try to open a post with 10 images - especially some of those poster-size specials we see.

Well, I have dial-up and I still think the increase should be 10, or somewhere close to it. Even 6 would be reasonable. The forum could impose a size limit for an image.

Smilies are being counted as an image, and I think in all fairness, if your going to impose a 4 image limit, discount the smilies as an image. They shouldn't be counted.

And I vote "yes" on more emoticons...the other dog forum I'm on had a lot more, close to 100 to choose from.

I agree that 4 is just not enough. I'm shutter-happy over here, so I always go over the limit and have to double post lmfao. So I end up posting 10 anyway, just in seperate posts. >^^;<

Smilies are .gif images, so I don't think it's possible for the bulletin board software to distinguish between

http://www.dogforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif and

http://www.photobucket.com/images/ro...rsthaircut.gif

Re: Increase limit of Pics in threads/posts...

All these forums are using similar software...on the other forum I'm a member on, perhaps they weren't able to distinguish between them, so they increased the limit. Can't we just increase the limit to 6 then? That is reasonable, I think.

I posted a thread with 3 images, and some emoticons, which imposed on the 4 pic limit. I don't think increasing to 6 would be harmful.

Cheetah, do you realize that you are disagreeing with the increase, but still post over the limit just by posting multiple posts?? So why not just agree with the increase, if your going to go over the limit anyway?

Edited for mistake! : Cheetah, sorry, don't know how I overlooked your post saying "I agree that 4 is just not enough"...my apologies, I made a mistake...thank you for agreeing with my suggestion!

Think about this, members on this site, just as members on the other forums, are posting multiple posts to get ALL their images (including smilies) into threads. Your going to look at those threads, and whether a member has dial-up or not, they're still going to look, whether you have 4, 6, or 10 images posted in the WHOLE thread via post upon post upon post...so where is the difference between all this? Okay, well, members will post however many images they like, but they'll have to beat the 4 pic limit by creating multiple posts...so why can't the increase be accepted (bump it to 6 or 10, or whatever is reasonable) so that the majority of members (such as myself) can use ONE post for our images...and include some smilies too.

I think a lot of you are over exaggerating on this suggestion....it isn't a big deal to increase the limit.

Now again, it is only a suggestion, and as with all suggestions, some will agree, some will disagree...either way, if it is accepted or not, no harm will come from it. If the mods/admin don't want to increase the limit, that is up to them...I only offered it as a suggestion. I made this same suggestion on the other forum I'm a member of, and it went through I'd rather make hundreds of members happy, and disappoint just a few.

No ones exaggerating, in fact I think we all are in agreement that it would be nice that the limit be up'd and we get more emoctions to choose from. I am sure RonE is on a conference call right now to Dave to discuss...okay that may be an exaggeration. Seriously, I think everyone here appreciates your suggestion - I hope you weren't offended. The culture on this board is a little different that the other one I know you from - but that's the fun part.

And damn if I didn't get this message!!!

Actually, my suggestion to Dave was that we ban anyone who made the request, or agreed with it, as a trouble-maker.

Lucky for you he never listens to me.

Actually, there were only a few members (such as yourself) that agreed with the suggestion...one member brought up the "dial-up" angle...and said something like "I don't think a member with dial-up will want to look at a thread with 10 images"...well, you wouldn't know a thread had 10 if you didn't visit the thread first...and besides the limit being 4, everybody on here knows you can "work around" that limit, by posting post upon post upon post. Which in itself takes more time for the member to do, when they could just as easily do it all in 1 post.

So when I say "over exaggerating", I mean some are looking at this suggestion likes its such a terrible idea or something, when in reality it isn't.

I have dial-up too! and that doesn't stop me from cruising the web Dial-up or not, increase in pic limit or not, your still looking at viewing a thread that could have a lot more than 4 images in it.

This forum is huge, maybe too huge, lol, and I'm surprised that there weren't more people coming on to this thread to post a vote for yes...

Thank you to ALL who agreed with this suggestion...without your posts, this request may not have gone through...Thanks everybody!!!!
