Re: Increase limit of Pics in threads/posts...

I'm still getting this message when I post :
    1. You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.
I thought the increase request went through...or am I missing something...

I know I'm late on this thread, but thank you very much!

( I find I don't really cut back on the use of images (when there is a low number accepted) I just make more posts to fit them all in. That probably doesn't help the dial up people much, because then they see my siggy twice... Just My Opinion... )

MDS: I just tried it. I'm also getting the "You have included 5 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Not to mention any names, BoXmeIn21.

I'll bet there are 20 or 30 users on this forum who use dial-up and would rather not try to open a post with 10 images - especially some of those poster-size specials we see.
I got dial up and on forums where there are several pics it only takes a minute for them to load or if it takes longer it gives me time to get up and clean my room. lol

On my forum I don't have a limit on the amount of pics a person can post and it doesn't harm anyone. No one has complained about it. Plus as stated, it makes people have to double post which is against the rules if I'm not mistaken.

I think I have a good idea, that would be really helpful.

What about if you had an image reducer? I've seen it on other forums; if your image is over a certain size it will reduce the size of the image. That keeps the images small but plentiful. It makes the picture threads easier to look at anyways.

We already have one of those don't we? I've seen it where its a large image then it shrinks to a smaller size and it says "This image has been reduced"

Re: Increase limit of Pics in threads/posts...

Maybe the size should be smaller. I know I've poster some pictures that probably would have looked better smaller, and wouldn't have taken as long the page so long to load. Only thing is all my pictures are a certain size... I actually almost expected this site would have a way of making sure pics weren't so big, but the pics can get rather large. Perhaps we could make the size limit smaller? So it automatically reduces the images to an acceptable size.

the image resizer, and most of them out there, still require the entire image to be downloaded and then it uses javascript and some CSS to shrink the image.

either way, it's alot of information to download and will be slow over dial-up.

Re: Increase limit of Pics in threads/posts...

Is the image resizer a hack for vB?

I should really use that on my own forum. It's a major peeve of mine when an oversized image throws everything out of alignment. I hate horizontal scrolling.

I wouldn't call it a hack. It's more of a module or plugin.

the really good one is ncode-imageresizer
