I agree. People have VERY different opinions about things...that's the beauty of originality.
I just think people are too quick to get angry. People assume that just because someone disagrees with them they are being attack, bashed or whatever. There are plenty of people on this site that I disagree with, but that doesn't mean I think that those people are mean or stupid, or that they are attacking me by disagreeing.
I do think that in any debate both sides hope to change the others mind, but it rarely happens. I think everyone should voice their opinions, but they need to do it in a tasteful way. If you are just voicing your opinion in a non-aggressive and polite way then there is no problem, it's when people start to make rude comments about a group or kind of people that the problem arises.
Just live and let live. Debating is awesome, but do it in a mature way and there won't be problems.
It reminds me of the chat in the politics thread on here. It's a long thread and all about politics and there haven't been really any problems with people's feelings being hurt, or people being attacked. I don't agree with the opinions of some people I've been talking with, but we are being very civilized about it and I am really enjoying the debate. It's really great when there are no arguments!
