| A guide to how to use the "REP" button Hi ..I hail from another site where there are over 135K members..we have the same "rep" button option to give rep out to posts that we have found helpful, or are just plain ole interesting...I myself do it alot, as I am pretty amused by many peoples relpies...rep is something that is something to be proud of because you EARNED it for various reasons..here, in the DogForums, it is pretty obvious to me at least that many of you have made some terrific posts, but may not have gotten the proper "THANK YOU" from someone in the way of a rep point...granted, theres nothing that you can physically do with a rep point, but, at the end of the day, it is nice to know that someone has found your time to post something helpful, well, helpful..rep is a way to say "Thanks" in its finest form...so, by all means, take the nano-second it takes to share your "thank-you" properly with someone by clicking on that little tree looking thing that is beside the "online button", & jot down a line or two...nothing bad can come of it, & it is just plain ole nice to say "thanks" ...appreciate your time reading!! |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button I am hoping that a MOD will post here about the "rep" question...in my other forum(it's a Webkinz fan site, but...runs the exact same way..when you "rep" someone, gradually, your greenboxes filp up & say different sayings..they go from dark green, (5 boxes) to light green (5 boxes) then yellow (to 5 boxes), then resets to a huge gold badge...only problem here is that no one can get past being "on a disguinshed road" ....thanks for giving me a rep point..I just am dying to know if there is another way to display them is all?? MODS~Please help here!!! Thanks Kaboodles!!
Gladto hear about Faith!!! *hugs* to her!!!! |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button For whatever reason, it's not used much on this forum. I think folks find it more amusing than anything else. And I don't think many hesitate to say what they think directly in a thread vs. handing out rep points, good or bad. http://www.dogforums.com/7-off-topic...eputation.html (Reputation?) |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button You view reputation information by clicking on your User CP ( control panel) near the upper left corner of the screen.
The problem is, it's anonimous, so - in my mind, at least- nearly meaningless. |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button Yeah the rep system, to me, is mostly good for giggles. Some of the +rep can make you feel good, but people who -rep me crack me up. It's the equivalent to hiding behind your daddy while talking crap about you. Much laughter to be had.
Some people take them far too seriously, though, going as far as to give people warnings for -reps. Tsk! |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button I have been ignoring it here. Every forum I have ever seen it used it is badly misused. It is largely a popularity contest and doesn't reflect what people know. Some people are quite skilled at telling people what they want to hear and building undeserved rep. |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button It reminds me of 7th grade and "slam books". I prefer not to utilize the feature and I hardly ever look at my rep. I've never given anybody any rep.....so even if I really like your posts, don't expect any rep from me! Sorry! |

| Re: A guide to how to use the "REP" button Well, what really cracks me up, is that no one realizes that we're "typing" out what we think, feel, believe, and so on... We can't convey mood and tone in our responses, and many times people ruffle their feathers at statements I've made when in-fact I never, not even once, referenced their screen-name in my post...
If you feel offended, PM me... Don't -rep me and assume I was talking smack to you. lol |
