Regional Sections

Example:

Northeast

Socal

Norcal

Florida

etc...

Could be used to find local dog spots and have meet-ups at dog parks. Just a thought.

Re: Regional Sections

This is an international forum. That's a lotta regions.

Also, I'm sceptical of "meet-ups" since hardly anyone here uses an actual name or posts an actual location.

Re: Regional Sections

Yea you don't have to do meet-ups, but could help if you need partner in training dog reactiveness etc..or just have more dogs for yours to socialize with.

I go to a car forum as well and they do BBQs and such usually a good time. I am sure if you asked you could find out someones real name.

Re: Regional Sections

I've driven 100s of miles to socialize with members of another forum I've been involved in for 8 or 9 years. They tend to be a bit more open - perhaps because most are trade professionals and all are adults.

Somehow, I don't see that happening here, though there are plenty of people on dogforums I'd love to see face-to-face.

Re: Regional Sections

I really like this idea.

There doesn't necessarily have to be a seperate forum for each region. A simple regional forum with a stickied format topic would work. Have people put the name of their city/state/whatever as the title. That way the search function can be used pretty easily.

Meeting up is only a small function of a regional section. Reccomending trainers/clubs/vets etc. would most likely be the main one. If people feel the desire to have a playdate for their dogs or such the option would be there. Take it or leave it. It's up to the individual DFer.
