Okay, anyway, lol!
My name is Jenna and I'm 16. I'll be 17 on August 9th. I normally am mistaken for being close to 22 or so based on looks, but some people say I act alot younger! I have two dogs, Cassie and Scamp, plus 6 birds, a cat and a ferret. I really want a third dog but wouldn't dare ask my parents.
Anyway, I'm really into writing and I plan to major in English with a minor in violin, then become certified to be a teacher. I do play the violin but it gets on my nerves - way too much pressure. I am big into music - Shania Twain and Bryan Adams are my two favorites.
Most of the time, I'm pretty friendly...the only time I'm not is when you've wronged an animal and I heard about it.
Oh, and I have a ton of energy! |

| Re: To know one another..... I am a 24 year old, married college grad and a mom of many pets. I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Sequential Art in 2005. I've worked for World of Warcraft, Spellbinder Games, and OrbisGames.
Ever since I was a child I have had my 'kids'. It was spurred on by my grandfather who was very much into the proper care of animals, as well as my father. When I was old enough, I was often given advice by my grandfather or father about various animals and their care, and being the curious kid I was I did a LOT of reading. Reading about dogs, and cats, and bird, fish, reptiles, etc, you learn that there are so many variations on "How to care for...".
I do not really want to have my own child, we plan to adopt eventually. I am much happier with my current children as is
I am not new to forums, in fact I moderate 3 forums, several chats, and several websites. I know when to step back and avoid needless conflict, and I know when to step in and correct as well. I don't tolerate assumptions or presumptions of myself or what I have to say, however, I do make the understanding that we are reading text and there are often times where text can be misread or misunderstood. I also do not tolerate people taking text and adding things which aren't there. I will always correct my mistakes when they are pointed out or apologize for any possible offenses. I will grow to understand how each of you act and how I can avoid conflict or drama.
That said, I love talking to people and being friendly. I often try to express myself and my desire to be approachable by frequently using smilies. The more smilies, the better! I don't like to fight, I like to help people and be helped. |

| Re: To know one another..... Hello Dogforum people, I guess I can introduce myself here...
I moved to Colorado for school and am 1/2 way through school at the moment (learning to be a vet tech). Im 19 years old and I have one Siamese cat named Lily, she was given to me by my boss (a Siamese cat & Chinese Shar Pei breeder) when my other cat (Callie, a DSH Tortoiseshell, best cat there ever was) died.
After I graduate I plan on moving (HATE the 100 Degree heat in summer!) with my sister (who moved here with me) somewhere else, dont know where yet.
I have never owned a dog in my whole life. The closest I have been is working 6 days a week (my choice, but I was forced to take Sundays off, thats how much I LOVED it)with them (dogs). All I did was feed them, bathe them, groom them (as much as you can for a Shar Pei), and did obedience with them. I also helped in Confirmation training but when I was finally offered a chance to go in the ring with a new dog I was helping train, it got canceled.
I have pet sat for a friend (Katzyn) here in CO and have pet sat back home for people there (no jobs, just favors).
I dont much enjoy Veterinary medicine at the moment but I have a good reason for being here. (and here it is) I want to own my own boarding kennel one day and I know people would love it if I knew what to look for and how to act in certain situations (diabetic dog). I love working in a kennel, even if I have to scrub floors and male-cat-sprayed walls. The dogs are what its all about.
Here, I want to show you guys my favorite wall in my old bedroom (its gone now). This was when I was into Siberian Huskies, still love them but not for me.

| Re: To know one another..... son of a gun. i think i'm the oldest. i'll be 58 in nov. i think you'll see us older folk aren't too digital pic savy, so you'll see few pics from us. (Me)
i come from a generation where dogs lived outside, if they got sick, they'd better get better on their own, because your dad didn't have the $ for dental bills for you, let alone a vet bill. been married 37 years and we've always had at least two dogs, usually 3. i was a los angeles police ofcr for 27 years and when i worked at night a good watchdog for the family was important. i have two grown daughters, 34 and 30. two years ago my younges and her husband bought a lab pup. then, a year later a 2nd. my wife and i were hooked. we bought two choc labs. one is 9 mo (she is the one who just had tpo hip surg and is due for the 2nd in 3 weeks) and the other is 4 months. the young one is a terror on four paws. then, we have a 9 year old germ shep. one of the smartest dogs i've ever owned. loves to bark, though. i want to thank all you folks that turned out to be so young on this site. you've tuaght this old dog new tricks regarding the care of pets. those that chimed in on tpo surgery helped me more than you'll ever know. she is laying next to me as i type and gets to start swimming thurs. |

I have two grown sons ages 37 and 39 and 7 grandchildren. My only pet is a 15 mo. old shih tzu named Sadie who is my best bud. She will go to the vet tomorrow I made the appointment because of shedding as luck would have it she has been vomiting so glad I had the appiontment made. I have learned a lot of things from these younger people also. The biggest to me was dog kibbles dog food was dog food to me. Thanks all of you. I really enjoy the real young members I get a kick out of them sometimes |

| Re: To know one another..... Wow! What a great dog family we have! I am fairly new but I have learned so much being on here..it has brought me GREAT sanity! (no kidding).
I am 37, and live in the great state of Colorado! GO BRONCOS!!! I am married, 11 years now, we have 2 bratty boys all our own; 10 and 7 (honestly I love them to pieces). I am recently "retired". I took off the summer from being in management, to be with my family and all our various activities (baseball, swim, vacation, etc..) and am planning to go back to work in the fall--not sure what yet..would love something from home, but jobs like that are hard to come by..as of now I am just loving being at home with my kids, hubby and my tons of work outside (gardening, flowers), and not having to go,go,go every day..life is good
I have worked in retail management for many years, then "retired" to have my kiddos and then BACK to work again once they were in school full time. I love family, friends and most animals..with the exception of snakes, they are all my favorites.
On the subject of pet peeves, I guess my greatest is when people try very hard to be someone they are not to PLEASE others..my philosophy is to be who you are and PROUD of it, and if people don't like you for who you are, then they probably are not worth your time anyway..sad but true.
At the moment we have 3 dogs; Junior our 5 month old Yorkie, and newest addition to the family, Max our 5 year old border collie who we rescued, Piper our 6 yr old rotty, and 3 cats; Milky, Lil' Bear and TT (another rescue), and 2 lizards my kids have caught. I don't remember a time our household didn't have a pet as I was growing up,,I guess it was a given..and it seemed strange to me when I visited friends at their homes and they didn't have pets..how could you not? Someone to love you ultimately, no matter what and always happy to see you. Our border collie is very well traveled and has even gone flying with my husband all the way to Texas! We try to take Max and Junior with us everywhere the family goes. We can't take Piper too much anymore because of her leg injury, and it is hard for her to jump in/out of the truck. Junior has flown to Min with us just a couple weeks ago in our airplane, and has gone boating with us as well..I didn't realize how smart Yorkies are! Again, thanks to my dog family here I am learning more and more
I love learning about new things that will benefit my animals, and I have really learned a lot lately, especially concerning food and what is best for them, thank you so much everyone who has helped me! I also want to point out how neat I think it is that there are so many younger kids on this site that have such a great interest in animals,I think that is awesome! I love the pictures of everyone too, it is great to put a pic with the people you "talk" with everyday, thank you!! Oh, good grief, almost forgot, my name is Michelle-or as my brats call me..MOM!!!!!!!!!! |

| Re: To know one another..... Maybe I can join in, despite being very new?
My name, as you can probably see from my username, is Jeannine. I grew up just outside of New York City (in Ridgewood, NJ), went to college in Providence, RI, then did grad work up in Boston (and worked two of the 60 colleges in that area), then decided to move to Washington, DC, but got distracted by a really interesting offer to work on a project at UVa and decided to head to Charlottesville. Though I don't get to have constant contact with them outside of my student interns, I LOVE college students...I think 17-22 years old is an amazing time of life and I'm honored when "my" kids come to me to talk out or process the events and decisions that they are facing.
I bought my first home last year, but delayed getting a dog because I felt there wasn't enough room for one to run around and play. When I friend stayed over on her way from Atlanta to NYC and brought her dog, Dylan (yellow lab...maybe with a little retriever mixed in), I realized that my fears were silly and that there was plenty of room for a pup to romp and play. So, the search began. I searched, waited, got disillusioned by the SPCA where I used to help out (I was naive enough to think that all people who say they love animals do what's best for them), and finally found my little Baxter.
More stuff...though I don't dress the part, I'm a bit of a hippie. I love the "buy local" movement and try to keep my consumption down. I'm a pacifist and am constantly trying to perfect the art of being laid back and open minded (it's hard to be that way sometimes). Music is extremely important to me and I've traveled far and wide to be part of a festival or to see friends I've made at shows.
I think I've rambled on long enough...I'm grateful to have found these forums and look forward to participating more in the future!
