| Stickies In Every Section I was talking to Peace36 and she stumbled upon a great point. She, as well as I, noticed that in many sections (especially the General Dog Discussion) the same subjects are being discussed over and over again
I dont know how much you guys like typing the same reply at least once a week, but I know that I just skip them since I know what they will say.
I suggest a Sticky on each section that will give new members the answers they are looking for. It will save everyone time and we will be able to discuss other topics which are not as ordain with more interest. |

| If a thread is started as an aid to answer common questions, and it's deemed informative and accurate, it's stuck. It's a little more difficult to do this if it's a post within a thread, but with some editing it can be done if the structure lends itself to being stuck. Not all threads and posts are reviewed by a mod, so if you see something that looks worthy of being stuck, call our attention to it. However, calling our attention to it does not mean it will be stuck. What specifically where you thinking of? |

| Well let me ask you this:
Is there a way to search and run statistics on what subjects have been discussed the most?
i.e. breeding.
Get a sticky up there so that people who want to start breeding, have questions about what a good breeder should exibit, risks, etc. |

| Yes, what makes a good breeder would be a good one. I could also see one warning others what to expect when asking a breeding question and why. A warning to bully breed owners about how to build their rep and why there is a debate about designer dog owners are also ideas. Dave knows the stats...I'm sure there are other things that should be discussed in a sticky. This is an open forum however, so those interested in starting such a thread are encouraged to do so. |

Putting this stuff aside will leave more time for discussions about Dog stuff from the news, events, etc.
Replying to the same stuff over and over again makes it very monotonous |

| Keep in mind that not everyone reads the stickies, I know I hardly do, and that there will still be post made on the same subject. There is also the search enging that you can use to find all post realted to a topic, but then again not alot people use that either. Most of the repeated topic post are started by someone who just joined and wants an imediate answer, therefore they don't have or take the time to read the stickies or use the search. Often times they don't even return to see what everyone replied to their post. |

| For the past couple of days I've been working off and on developing a plugin for vB that will display the Top X most viewed threads in the forum section you are viewing. Threre's a couple plugins out there that show the top X viewed threads for a forum as a whole but not individual forums. I'm taking that idea and bringing it one step further.
This may not cover ALL those repeated questions but I have a feeling it will address many. Lets hold off on doing stickies to see if this is a good solution. Stickies tend to push the new content further down a page, which deters people from making new post.
Another Solution would be to make an FAQ forum and permalink those popular questions, so they would exsist in the correct forum and the FAQ forum. |
