Recall sticky

Does anyone else think that we should have a sticky on training a solid recall? It seems like a common enough problem... seems like there's a new recall thread or two in the training section every week.

Re: Recall sticky

Sounds like a good idea to me, though with how many people still ask what DF raw feeders feed their dogs despite the Menu sticky, it may have limited benefits...though at least then one can reply with a link instead of typing yet another explanation

Of course there are many variations of recall training.

Re: Recall sticky

True, but I was thinking about a sticky that listed all the fundamentals that are pretty much agreed on by all. This list is by no means comprehensive, but some of the things it would cover: high-value vs low-value treats; recalls should not be followed by unpleasant experiences; the importance of increasing distractions gradually; Premacking...

Of course, there's nothing wrong with it being a sticky on just one method of teaching recall. There are many different ways to teach loose leash walking, for example, but we only have the positive reinforcement one stickied.
