| If you click on the little scale icon just below that (for someone else's post) you can 'approve' or 'disapprove' of the post and leave comments if you choose. Each time some 'approves' of one of your posts, it adds to your reputation rating. At some point, that becomes reflected in the green light. Maybe you get add'l green lights. Being on a 'distinguished road' probably means you've had more positive than negative ratings.
If you click on the scale icon on one of your own posts, you get some information about your own reputation rating. I suspect you get 10 reputation points just for being born.
I'm not clear if a negative rating makes your green light turn red or what kind of road you're on if that happens.
Oh, and I forgot to mention: In times of international conflict, soaring gas prices or a sluggish economy, the forum administrator's approval rating tends to plummet.
