Automerged Doublepost

I am guessing this is meant for when you post the same thing twice very quickly?

It seems it automerges "doublepost" even if it is the different post an hour later. Many times I'll post something. Think about the thread and go back and add something. If I was the last poster it merges my posts. Which means if someone read my first post they wouldn't see my second post because it gets merged in to the already read first post.

RonE will become famous soon enough
I think this might be a feature that can be shut off by the administrator. I haven't experienced this on another forum using the same BB software.

Correct! If you post within X amount of time (I believe it's 5 minutes) and you were also the last one to post you, both of your post will then be merged into a single post. This is in effect so that if you accidentally click the submit button twice there will not be duplicate posts.

I think they time limit is a lot higher then 5 minutes. Can we get it moved to say a 1 minute?

I just tried to double post on my site, vB3.6.4 It gives out

To submit the thread twice....
Code:
"This thread is a duplicate of a thread that you have posted in the last five minutes. You will be redirected to the thread listings.

Click here if your browser does not automatically redirect you."
To submit the post twice....
Code:
The following errors occurred when this message was submitted

         1. This post is a duplicate of a post that you have posted in the last five minutes.

That is built in and not a hack. It check to make sure the text is the same. If you type in something different it doesn't do that. IE if you are not double posting the same thing.

This post was automerged after almost 3 hours

I'm pretty sure the one I have is a Plugin rather then the built in one. But I believe this exsisted prior to our most recent update, which does have a double post merge built in.

Here's a screenshot showing that it is a plugin.

When the 3.5 with ajax came out the double posting was an issue for a while. vB fixed it though and I want to say around the 3.6 version. I would just remove plug in now that vB has it built in.

What other plugins do you have there You don't have Miserable Users mod do ya?
