Feature suggestion (allowing members to edit topic titles)

I would like to suggest that Dave changes the settings to where member's are allowed to edit their own topic titles because people make mistakes when they type and overlook it and post it before they notice and can't go back and edit the topic title. For example, just a few minutes ago I posted a birthday topic for Snoopy and titled it "5/9/2009" when I meant to put "5/9/2008". Had I been allowed to edit the title myself I would have done it and wouldn't have to take briteday's time to go and edit the title which could be time used to close down a topic in the health forum with people posting emergency questions about their dogs or settling a fight. So that is why I believe Dave should change the settings to allow member's to edit their own titles of their topics.

Would be nice, but I can see that causing some issues as well...
I mean if someone posts something and then later regrets it because they are having things pointed out to them about it, its bad enough that they can delete their posts or edit them so as no one has any idea what the other members are talking about. Then we all just look like a bunch of crazies

I don't see that as being as a problem as that would hardly happen. Plus maybe they can set it to where after a short amount of time you can't change the title. On invisionfree forums after a short amount of time you can't edit the title.

But how does Dave know people will abuse the privledge? Because on every other forum I am on or have been on, no one has ever edited a topic title because they got a response they didn't like.

And how do you know that they will not edit topic title because of a response?

Re: Feature suggestion (allowing members to edit topic titles)

Well I guess your right. Perhaps we could give it a trial run and see how it works out. What do you think of that iwantmypup?

I'm sure that would be cool, on the other hand if used correctly it would save the Mods from some work...lol

I think it is a good idea but I also agree it could be abused in the ways already mentioned. I think the trial run is a very good idea, then we could see.

Oh, whatever happened to being able to post more then 4 pictures, did the admin decide not to do it after all?

Re: Feature suggestion (allowing members to edit topic titles)

I'm not sure, I'm guessing they did decide against it since it hasn't changed. But I suppose they have a good reason behind it. Maybe so that people can't excessfully use emotions or post lots of pictures in one post.
