i've been gone for several months, and i'm just catching up on these old threads...

wondering if people are still using the #dogforums chat room that i created a while back, and if i need to add moderators to the channel?

i still think it would be fun to chat in real time with people... i'm much more of a chat room person than i am a forum poster.

Anyway, if people are still using this chat, send me a PM or something, and I can set up some mods if you need them. Also for people who can't use the java site, download an IRC client like this one http://www.mirc.com/get.html

we use the traveler dogforum chat nightly. .. join in on the fun. As far as a mod, usually cheetah is in there..

teddie, i'm sitting in there and i just noticed you joined and left. sorry i missed you.

i'm glad people are using the chat room i created... if you guys want a basic run-down on some irc commands, like how to change your nick name or how to change the topic of the room, let me know. also i can add moderators to the channel who will be able to kick/mute/ban someone if you guys ever encounter any problems.

i'll try to be around tonight, hopefully i see some of you there

here are some basic irc commands that you guys will probably find useful:

/nick <type nickname here>

changes your nick name without having to exit the room
for example: /nick IslandMutts or /nick IslandMutts|afk

/msg nickserv register <password>

registers your nickname so no one else can use it.
for example /msg nickserv register changeme

/msg nickserv identify <password>

once you have registered your nick, when you sign on again, you should identify, or sign in with your password. this allows you to send private messages to other users.

/topic #dogforums <topic>

allows you to change the topic of the room, so that people who are just coming in can jump in on the conversation, or view links that you are discussing etc.
for example: /topic #dogforums The great Cesar Milan debate


/me <text>

emote speak... changes the color of your font to purple and enters your text as emote speak. fun to use.
for example /me sits politely for a greeting as borzoimom enters the room or /me slinks away with her tail between her legs

that's probably all you'll ever need. enjoy!
