| Attention members- user log in I received email notification that someone attempted to log on as me and reset my password as well. I have sent the email notification copy to the moderators. This occured on both forums I am a member of. I thought people should know about this. If you get a notification, I would suggest you notify the moderators as well.. |

| Re: Attention members- user log in The person trying to log in under your user name is not a dog forums member - past or present.
Truly, anyone can browse the forum, pull your user name from any one of 1,521 posts, and try to guess your password to log in. After five tries, the username is locked for 15 minutes and your are notified.
Unless your password is too obvious, or you have shared it with others, there is little chance that anyone is going to be able to pose as Borzoimom.
Notifiying moderators is still a good idea, though. If the poser is a dog forum member, we'd need to take action. |

| Re: Attention members- user log in Thank you Ron. That is very reassuring! It was bizarre! (btw- this is the only computer that would log in as myself..)
I will keep the email notifications and it will be interesting to find out if that address shows up in the future.. |

The email you received merely advised you how to reset your own password in case you had actually forgotten it. If someone else reset your password, the new one would be sent to your email address.
I don't you're dealing with a particularly talented hacker - just someone fooling around. |

Someone is trying to annoy you. They won't be able to log on as you and they won't be able to reset your password.
They have succeeded in annoying you, though. My suggestion would be to ignore them or you risk giving them some satisfaction.
Often these types of incidents start out during IM sessions and spill over onto dog forums. I can't speak for the other moderators, but my own response to all involved is "Please take it back outside."
Your attacker is almost certainly someone you know from outside dogforums. |
