is it safe to give my sheltie cranberry capsules to prevent cyrstals from coming back

I answered you on the dog food about cranberry capsules. Its totally safe.. And actually especially since she already got crystals before, I am a little surprised the vet didnt suggest it..

Cranberry is very good for dogs. If you are uncertain about how much to give, I would contact a holistic vet a regular vet MAY be clueless depending on how current and open they keep their practice.

Cranberries are really good for dogs. I try to give the boys real cranberries when possible. When I can't Solid Gold has a powder supplement that I just sprinkle on their food called Berry Blend.

Thats a good one! General rule of thumb at 405 to 500 mg- for a dog under 30 pounds 1/2 a capsule twice a day. Under 15 pounds is a 1/3. However since she has already had crystals I would go with the higher dose. Crystals need bacteria to start and the cranberry removes thats as acidic. It wont hurt her- if she doesnt need it, it will pass.. Dogs over 60 pounds are a capsule twice a day. ( open it and dump it on the food.)

okay thanks everyone i already picked up a few bottles at walgreens the 405 all i could find maybe ill go 3/4 and 3/4 if i have to waste a little i dont care ill be happy just to get her off that royal canin urinary so and not worry about feeding her good food

Wait a minute now- while I see your reason in royal canin since they had a recall also, she still needs balence phorous to make this work. Look into Solid gold or Merrick.. A few extra dollars a bag or the same price is better than a big vet bill any day..

my vet wants me to feed her royal canin for 2 more wks then a urine sample again then iam taking her off of it he wants to be doulbe sure the cyrstals are gone i hate feeding her this food i got upset with vet when he put her on it but he said we had too to get rid of cyrstals shees been on anti botics for 3 wks iam sure their gone but the vet is always right right?? i live in a small town we only have one vet place with 3 vets working their WHAT FOOD OF MERRICK SHOULD I FEED OR WHICH ONE IN SOLID GOLD THANKS our food isnt on the recall its a perscription food all the other royal canin are
