Exclamation Heartworms

I recently adopted my dog from a pound and it turns out she has heartworms. I know she has to be very calm and slow for 5 weeks and that's been going very well. But today she was outside with us and she escaped our porch and took off running. There are alot of dogs in our neighborhood and she ran into our neighbor's yard that owns two large great danes. Next to them are a couple collies. (My dog's a collie/chow mix) I finally caught her and walked her back to the house. I immediatly put her in her crate to rest. I was just wondering if this could affect her? She won't (tremble) die will she? PLEASE let me know asap or I won't be able to sleep tonight! Thanks! (Oh, and she's been recovering for about three weeks now, should only have about two weeks before she takes the last pill for it)

Re: Heartworms

The problem occurs when the dogs blood pressure goes up and it dislodges dead or dying worms or causes them to break up too fast and gives the dog either an embolism or anaphylaxis. So if your pup is OK now... she should be ok...

Re: Heartworms

I don't have any advice, but thank you so much for adopting a dog with special needs.
