My chihuahua and a heart murmur.

Yes, my dog has a heart murmur. It is given the typical medication that is used for dogs with this conditon. My dog is not getting better. I have read on on that L-Carnitine and Taurine could help my dog significantly. I would like to ask if anyone knows if this is really true. Thanks.

I would be interested too. My cat has a heart murmur, something called hypertrophic cardio myopathy. She is on enelapril and we have to take her for an echo cardiogram once a year. She is my baby though, and everytime we go for the cardiogram we say WooKat is taking us to the poor house! It's okay, we save our change all year in a big bottle called the WooKat fund, it just about covers it.

murmur

Hi, I had a small dog that had a murmur and it was staged as a very significant one. She had a cracked tooth when she was nine and had it removed. that is what they say it came from. She was a very energetic dog. It never slowed her down . She was treated for a tumor at age eleven and went on to live till we had to put her to sleep at age 16. She had renal failure which after tx of course did not help. What I am trying to say is a dog can live, just a a person does with a heart murmur and lead an active life. She never received any meds for the murmur and did just fine. So ask about how the med is helping her and what stage, she had a four. I do know that with her age it had worsened, but that is to be expected, will meds prevent that?
