Savanna's mom is on a distinguished road
Unhappy Facial growth

I have a 7 year old female German Shepard. I took her to the vet because she was crying a bit when she was trying to eat. He looked in her mouth, didn't see anything stuck, ok, said to watch for now. Well one morning I got up and her eye was about bulged out, and had green pus coming out, plus her cheek was very swollen. took her to vet right away, he didnt know what it was, felt her cheek and said leave her there to be sedated and do a biopsy. Called me and said did biopsy, but thinks its a tumor. Now this lump is behind her cheek bone so it's not easy to get to. We gave her 2 antibiotics and pain killers and anti inflammatory until biopsy results came in. Results came in, no cancer, but what the heck is that thing in her face? I took her in yesterday for a recheck after a week and now her eye is swollen again and the lump is bigger, plus her mouth is bleeding from where the biopsy was done. Does it take longer for dogs to heal from a biopsy in the mouth? I am beside myself as you can probably tell, I dont know where to go or what to do from here. Any help is much appreciated.

Could it be an abcessed tooth? I had a little cocker/poodle mix when I was younger that had a bad tooth, it caused the area under her eye to swell too. Hope you get some answers.

Just because the lump wasn't cancerous doesn't mean its not a tumor. I'd find another vet and get a second opinion about having it removed before it does serious damage.

Thanks for your help. Went for another opinion, many more tests and she got worse over the weekend. Turned out it was a rapidly spreading bone cancer and we couldn't do anything that wouldn't seem inhumane to her, like taking half of her face to remove the cancer. I'm hoping she will be at that rainbow bridge waiting for me.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom lost her rotti to bone cancer.

At least she is now pain free and romping happily on the other side of the bridge.
