Simethicone...?

So my 1 1/2 year old pug girl gets pretty gassy sometimes...

Does anyone know if Simethicone (GasX) is safe for dogs? I am a nurse and know that in people, Simethicone isn't absorbed into the body, it just stays in the GI tract....

I don't want to give it to her unless I know it's safe!! I will call down to my vet if I need to but just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head...

Re: Simethicone...?

Here is a posting from a veterinary forum - personally, I would start at the LOW dose and work my way up (it's always safer that way)

Yes, you can use simethicone. Dose is 25-200mg every 6 hours or 1-2mg/lb has been cited too.

It's very safe as it isn't absorbed from the GI tract.

Gas X is part of my "anti bloat" protocol and I keep it on hand for that reason. It buys time if gas build up occurs.
