What could be wrong with by black Lab?

About a month ago, at 4am, Quin (3yrs) needed to go to the toilet, so I let him out, he ran back inside after a minute or two, falling over, rear legs were bowed and not really working, and acting as if he was intoxicated.
I got the vet to come out who said he thought Quin had a slipped disc.
On talking further I mentioned that he had been off his food, hence the vet took Quins temperature (37). Suddenly Quin jumped up and ran outside to "poop" and was totally normal when he came back.

It also happened again this morning at 4am. But I kept him quiet, got him to lie down, and within an hour he was back to his old self again. (this time tho, he didnt poop)

The only thing that I can relate to both incidents is that he had a bone the day before each episode. and he was doing that funny noise that they make before vomiting, but no vomit.

Im not sure if its a seizure. He seems to be coherent most of the time, but looks up to the ceiling.

The vet is not sure whats happening, so any advise would be great.

first of all. get a new vet.
is there a chance that he is getting into something in the yard? A toxin, or plant? seizures can do this but if you are only noticing it after he has been outside then he must be getting into something out there. Check your yard really well to see if you can see anything.

I originally thought me may have been bitten by a spider or something. I am going to check the back garden right now. Im no sure what Im looking for tho.

Well, there doesnt seem to be anthing in the garden. I have been up all night surfing the net, and I think that he could be suffering from Chinook Seizures. He doesnt totally blank out, just stares into space or up at the ceiling, or looks like he has been on drugs. The only thing I havent seen him do, is have muscle spasms.
Yesterday when all this was happening he was VERY attached to me, (one reason I knew he was sick) and he was very "licky" towards me.

I am trying not to think that it is a brain tumor, but apparently that happens more in older dogs, but in reality i guess it can affect any dog at any age.

Does anyone have any insite into seizures?

A year or so ago, I let our Jack Russel out to go potty, and I heard her squeak at the door so I let her in.

When I let her in, she was crazy... Her pupils were different sizes, her head was bobbing. She was running into walls. It was horrible. My parents weren't home. I put her in her crate so she wouldn't hurt herself, and I called the vet. They said that if it has been going on for more than 2 minutes, it is NOT a seizure, or it is unlikely. It had been going on for much longer. They said to bring her in immediately, I said I couldn't, I couldn't drive. I promptly called my parents, and they were on there way home from Nashville(an eight hour drive from us) but were thankfully almost home. When they got home, they took her to the vet, which is a half hour away, and we got there, and he induced her to vomit. We came up with paintballs. Well, and a rock . Then they gave her Vitamin K and charcoal I think?

My brother shoots paintballs, and he was over that day shooting. So, my advice would to be to get another vet, and look for intoxication substances

Sounds very similar, was your dogs rear legs splayed?

Honestly, I don't remember Wish I did though! It seems that she was standing splayed out.. But I wouldn't bet my life on it, and would feel horrible telling you so if she wasn't

My black lab (she is deceased now) had a brain tumor and she had episodes very similar to what you are describing. She got up one morning, then kind of fell against the wall, she tried to keep walking and kept kind of tipping over like she was drunk. We rushed her to the closest vet (we were on vacation and not familiar with the area) and they gave her some steriods and by the time we left the vet Onyx was running around like nothing had happened. That vet said it was a specific type of seizure that older dogs get. When it happened again several months later, we took her back to our regular vet, who also misdiagnosed her with a stroke. It wasn't until after the 3rd episode and we took Onyx to see a veterinary neurologist that she was correctly diagnosed with a brain tumor and started treatment. This type of tumor is much more common in older dogs (Onyx was 16 years at time of diagnosis), but I don't think it's exclusive to old dogs. The specialist did say that there are many symptoms possible, but one common one is that the dog's head will shrink, and ours had. So I ask you that same question, and I also recommend you see another vet and get some further testing done. Good luck.

My 7mo year old puppy is displaying this all of the sudden he has a total loss of appetite, hides in corners and stumbles into walls. I am taking him to the vet in the morning I will let you guys know the diagnosis.

Can I ask as your dog banged it head at all any where? while be out and about or slipped. My old Labrador Troy slipped and hit her head on concrete step. She 11 1/2. Now and again she goes down like a seizure for a couple of minutes then gets up looks around , Has to say what the H is going on look on her face Afterwards then then goes out for a poo because it's the shock to the body system. Thats why I was wondering.
