Question Flea help(used Comfortis for treatment)

Hi,
I'm new here but I was hoping to find out if anyone had any experience with the Comfortis flea medication for dogs. I recently found a couple of fleas on my dog and kind of freaked out about it. My mom got Comfortis from the vet and I gave it to my dog, Shelby, about a week ago. I saw a flea tonight and was wondering if that's normal or if I should start worrying. So far we have bombed the house, vacuumed/washed everything, and treated the yard. I was just curious if anyone had any experience or advice on if I need to be doing anything else. Thanks in advance!

Hi. Welcome to DF
If you read the instructions that came with the Comfortis, it says that fleas can jump on your dog, but they will die pretty quickly. If your house is clear of fleas, I would say he/she got them from the outside. But they won't live on the dog for very long.
That stuff works really well. Kinda scary.

Thanks for the info! I've also been kind of worried because she's scratching alot since I gave it to her. I did read that it could be a side effect, I just don't want her to scratch herself raw.

Re: Flea help(used Comfortis for treatment)

LynnInTenn is correct. Another thing you have treat for at least three consecutive months in order to break the life cycle of the flea. Only 10% of the flea population is seen on your dog the other 90% larva, pupae, and eggs are in the environment. So regular vacuuming (under furniture and inside closet where the larva love to hide) and washing dog bedding will help cut down on your flea population. Make sure that you empty the vacuum every time you use it and dispose outside. Flea population for some reason was horrible this year.
