A few weeks ago, while grooming my dog, I noticed a rather large bump on his back left left. It almost looked like an extra toe pad. Maybe a cm or two wide. It did not have hair on it. And I could tell he found it, as it looked to be scabbed a bit. Being the hypochondriac I am, I scheduled a vet visit asap.
I took him to the vet, and the veterinarian came in. He shaved the hair around it so that he could see it better, and then said it is most likely a Histiocytoma. Which was my initial guess (I stayed up late researching bumps on dogs).
He took a microscope plate, and patted the bump a few times to get any fluids from it. Took it to a microscope to determine the blood cells and others that were visible, and confirmed it was a Histiocytoma.
I was very relieved to know it wasn't anything serious. It is supposed to go away on it's own, but gave me a cortisone cream to apply to it, and come back in two weeks if it doesn't show signs of receding.
So I guess the reason for this post is just to share what I found to anyone that may be looking for similar information.
Take care
