A recently neutered dog's "sack"

I was told that a newly neutered dog's scrotum will appear swollen, almost as if his family jewels are still present and accounted for. Is this true?

My dog was neutered almost a week ago and it still looks like he's got a scrotum. Is this normal? Or is my mental visual image of what a neutered dog is supposed to look like "down there" incorrect?

It should shrink up. It took a couple of months for my dog's to shrink up and now its just like an enlarged raisin when it's cold out and a itty bitty mini pancake when it's hot out.

Yes...the vet just removes the testes, not the actual sac that holds them. You may see some initial swelling....as the swelling goes down, the sac should basically be deflated and over time is usually shrinks until you can't really see it anymore.

Just wanted to add, after Rocky was neutered, his coin purse took about 3 months or so to totally disappear. It was really out there (almost more noticeable than before the surgery), and I was afraid it wouldn't go away. Now it's totally invisible.
