My foster dog is on some pills for a lung infection.It is called "Orbax".
She has one per day in the mornings.Well I was cracking them in half and sticking it in canned food for her.

Today I was informed (by mom) that when you crack some meds in half they do not work...I wondered if anyone knew about this one? Does it affect this pill?

Sometimes it can effect the dissolution and absorption of the pill. You should ask the vet to be sure..but many pills can be broken up or cut without too much trouble.

It doesn't say specifically if you can split it, but it comes in "EZ Break" tablets, so I guess it's probably safe to break them.

I have only had her a few days and the other volunteer had her to the vet before bringing her to me.She didn't mention this to me,so I had no idea.When I heard that breaking the pills MIGHT stop them from working,I was worried,as I was doing this the past few days.

That was not a stupid question at all. I had a foster that was taking Adenosyl for her liver and I was breaking the tablet in half. The vet informed me that breaking the pill apart is a no-no because it does impact its efficacy. Thank goodness I only screwed up for two days.
