Best medication for Kennel Cough?

Hey guys,

My boxer puppy (buddy) has kennel cough and we took him to the vet last week. They prescribed him 125 mg of Clavamox (in pill form), twice a day for 7 days. I paid $47 for the pills, only to find out that PetMeds.com had the same pills for $16. I was not happy to say the least... LOL.

Anyway, my question is, what is the best medication to treat kennel cough? The clavamox doesn't seem to be working all that well so is there something better? Now my pitbull puppy (bailey) is starting to catch the cough.. we tried our best to limit interaction between them, but that was near impossible.

They both are acting just fine! Eating like horses, playing like wild banshee's, so they seem to be unaffected by it, except for the cough.

Anyway, if anyone could help me out here, I'd GREATLY appreciate it.

at our local shelter our vet uses doxiecycline or delta abaplex
we fine it works better then clavamox

Yeah I was readinga bout doxycycline. Sounds like it may work better. I think I may order it when I run out of Clavamox, of course if it doesn't work that is.
