how long should dog be in heat for?

Ok my 7month old schnoodle is in heat for sure, but it will be 3 weeks this monday. She is bleeding alot now and is putting a lot of blood on the pads in the pants. Is this normal for her to be still doing so much blood near the end of her heat? Or can they be in heat longer than 3 weeks?

Yes, they can be in heat for longer than 21 days. I routinely confine bitches for 30 days from the first show of color.

When she is finished with this season, you can wait 30 days and then have her spayed.
