| The mysterious blood and lump a few weeks ago i came home and found out that my dog had developed a few large lumps in her groin area. they were tight and didnt move much but they appeared very suddenly. I brought her to the vet and she said that it could be a tumor or an infection but she didnt have a fever and was acting only slightly lethargic. The vet put her on antibiotics which helped right away and in a week they seemed to be gone but i noticed some blood on her and a slight amount in her urine in the snow. And sure enough with in a week we started noticing little droplets of blood here and there on the kitchen floor. so she was put back on antibiotics and it reduced the bleeding but it didnt go away. She even had her urine tested and it came back normal meaning no infection. But then why did the antibiotics help? i could still feel a small lump in her abdomen, and i had to take her and my cats for thier vaccines so when i went in i asked the vet to look at it and she said that the lump is not actually in her abdomen. its outside the abdominal wall so its not connected to her bladder. so where is the blood coming from. she suggested trying a different antibiotic and to bring her back and we can try to find out whats wrong by taking x-rays, or sticking a needle in and puling out some cells to see what they are and if theyre normal cells, and maybe even do an ultrasound. My boyfriend suggested just putting her in surgery and taking it out and having them biopsy it because it would be cheaper and at least teh doctors could look at it and it would get it out once and for all. However I am not so sure that this would be the cheaper route but she might eventually need to have the surgery anyway. But my dog is really hyper and she would have to be sedated for them to do anything to her, even x-rays, which will cost more than if she didnt have to be sedated. I dont know what to do. |
