Dog constant itch...NOT FLEAS... please help!!

I need advice!! I have a four and a half year old cocker beagle mix and she has had "allergies" or something for about a year. It is not fleas...she has gone to the vet for the whole year on a regular basis and she has become immune to the meds to make her stop!
Wondering if anyone has tried homeopathic meds or anything else!!!
My pup and I are both sad... please help!!!

The obvious to me is food allergies. I have a dog that it took us 4 years of trial and error to figure out that she is allergic to most red meats and all grains.

Better to figure out what is causing her to itch than to give meds to stop the itch.

What type of food and treats are you feeding her?
What type of shampoo are you using on her?
What type of laundry soap are you using to wash her bedding?


If it's not food and/or treats it could be environment...laundry soap you use for washing her bedding. Do you use those carpet smell good sprinkles? Fertilizer in the yard, the shampoo your using (dog shampoos ph balance is at the opposite end of the scale from human shampoo) I recommend a professional dog shampoo (an oatmeal shampoo to help sooth her skin), how often your bathing her (should be no more than once a month, if she gets dirty in between you can just rinse her off with warm water), rinsing very well to get all the shampoo off of her.

I feel so bad for her.

Cockers especially are known for skin and allergy problems.... you can have her allergy tested which should be able to tell you what she is allergic to.... your vet will also probably want to do a skin scraping which will help determine if she has mites of any type on her skin.....

I do think a vet check is in order.
