Question - Need some urgent help please..

Hey guys,

I have a 12 week old boxer who's recently started doing something very strange.

When he gets very excited, or starts barking, he starts doing this.. (this is the best way I can explain it..)

He does this "heeve, heeve, dry spit up." It sounds kinda like he has mucus in his throat sometimes when he does it.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'm really beginning to get worried. He eats like a horse, and is active as can be, so I'm not sure what it could be..

So please, if anyone has any idea's/hints, throw them out there. I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Adrian

Here's another example.

If it sounds like either of these, take your pup to the vet to rule out (or in) kennel cough. Some dogs just sneeze on occasion, but with others, you need some antibiotics to clear it up. Your vet can tell you which situation you're dealing with.

Re: Question - Need some urgent help please..

It kind of looks like Kennel cough.. but I'm not to sure.

I've read on a couple sites saying that if the dog still is very active and has a good appetitie, that it is more then likely very mild and that Vet. treatment may not be necessary, and to just let the dog heal on its own like you would a common cold. Is this true?

Are there any over the counter medications that I can give him, like cough suppressants or anything of the sort?

Thanks guys. Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

Yup! He's got Kennel Cough. Just got back from the vet. They gave him Clavamox, in 125 MG tabs for 14 days. Vet said he has it worse then most the puppies that have come in.. so I'm glad we took him when we did.

No OTC stuff, have the vet check, if it is kennel cough he may still need treatment.

He's got Kennel cough, and is on medication for it.

Now I'm just worried about my other puppy. The vet said her immune system might be strong enough to withhold it, and Buddy is now on antibiotics, so hopefully she won't catch anything. She hasn't shown any signs of anything at all so far.. so we'll see. Vet said if she does start coughing, he'll prescribe meds for her right away.
