Unhappy Help! PUPPY BARFING!

Hi, well I put a thread on here earlier about my pup maggie, barfing because she was eating her DOG FOOD to fast. But now when we put her outside, she chases and eats birds, rabbits, squerels, etc. And when she does she chews and eats the bones too, and this morining I heard her making a strange sound and she threw up all over my floor! In three spots, two of them were just watery wight spots, but the other one had bones and part of a bird wing in it and some other bean looking thing. WHAT SHOULD I DO!? Any advice is needed!

Re: Help! PUPPY BARFING!

I doubt the bones are making her barf, perhaps the feathers or fur she's ingesting???
Either way, has she been to the vet about this?

Re: Help! PUPPY BARFING!

My dog threw up because he ate a certain type of bone we got from the butcher once. I dont remember which one but I think it was the neck of a turkey or something like that.

If the dog threw up once and hasnt done it since, I wouldnt be too worried about it but try to keep the dog from eating the birds. Other than making it throw up, birds also carry other diseases that can affect you too...

Re: Help! PUPPY BARFING!

Yuck! I never knew a dog who actually caught and ate animals like that. I figured wolves did but not domesticated dogs. I wonder if this is common? I would think that would make her sick but I really dont know.

Yes, but Lab's don't EAT what they hunt! Lab's have soft mouths, that's why they retrieve the ducks. Because they WON'T eat the duck.

Actually she's probably eating animals to try and tell you that there is a much better diet that mother nature intended her to eat!!
Perhaps listen to what she's saying!
*Sorry I just had to add this in there*

Re: Help! PUPPY BARFING!

What are you feeding her?

If your dog is eating wild animals then you are not doing enough to supervise the dog while it is outside. If you are in a rural area you may have to tether her to you with a long leash or rope so that she is not out of your sight.

My animals will catch things but never eat them. And aussie is a herding dog and would / should not be eating animals.

You need to break this habit fast. It either has something to do with her current diet or is a behavior issue. But there are so many dangers with eating feral animals that you need to stop it quick.

Re: Help! PUPPY BARFING!

Yeah, they are outside from 7:40 to about 2:00. Then we come home and we make sure they get LOTS of love and attention. Most of the time when we come home, we bring them toys, or new treats. They are spoild but they are not fat. We just spoil them becuase they are our little angels!

Re: Help! PUPPY BARFING!

Well being that your dogs/puppy are outside when know one is home it is impossible to stop that behavior. Maybe ask the vet if there are any shots she needs to keep her healthy because she is eating the yard visitors.

I know you love your dogs you would not be here if you did not. They are lucky to have you.
