Hey guys. I am the proud owner of 2 mini daschunds. One male (1year old) and one female (2 yrs old). This past Friday was a scary one..so I figured I would share it with you and see maybe if someone can help me out making any sense of the situation.
This past Friday I woke up and took both of my dogs on a walk at around 10:00am, the walk lasted about 45 minutes. I normally walk them right after work, not in the morning but was up early so I figured I'd take them. As soon as we got back home I noticed my girl, Codi, just standing in the hallway. I offered them 2 carrot sticks, which Dylan ate with no hesitation. However Codi wouldnt move, she just stood there and stared at me. I called her over, but nothing. Which is not like her at all. I thought maybe she hurt her back, or her hind legs, so I touched her everywhere but she gave me no response to pain anywhere. She was just sitting on the floor and almost like rocking back and forth, and at some points she looked like she was going to fall over but at the last second she'd catch herself. Her eyes would keep trying to close and every little sound would startle her. I immediately knew something was wrong so I called the vet who said to bring her right away. I grabbed her and in the car we went. I didnt have the doggy car seat so I had to hold the leash with her on the front seat. She was shaking like I never saw her shake before. I was extremely scared and worried, so im sure my energy didnt help at that point. She vomited up mostly bile just before we got to the vet.
Long story short, her temp was fine, blood work and all tests came back normal, and her blood sugar was fine. Since Friday night she's been her normal self. She's been following me around and wanting to be with me more than normal, but other than that...totally fine now. My thinking was it was a mild siezure? I have had dogs all of my life and never experienced anything like this. I'm worried about her now, I hate leaving her alone for fear of this happening or worse when i'm not there. Any input would be great
