Question Post Operative Physio for FHO (Femoral Head Osteoctomy)

Hi
My darling, Caesar, is a 2.5 yr old Golden Retriever and the love of my life .... I detected when he was 6 months old that he had partial hip dysplasia in both his hind legs (the right one being worse than the left one)
He responded well to treatment (chondroitin sulphate powder to help build cartilage, etc.) but an x ray a few weeks back showed that the medication helped reduce pain through building cacrtilage and cushioning the joint, but the problem persisted. So we decided to go with the FHO on his right hip. He had the procedure successfully on the 18th of September. The surgery was successful and the incision has healed very quickly but Caesar has not tried to use his right leg since .. he kind of keeps it touching the floor but never puts any weight on it. i am worried about his muscular scarring due to less use of the joint in time. My vet studied up on the surgery and did the operation well, but hasnt given me concrete advice on post operative physio. India does not have pet orthopaedic advisors (none that I know of atleast) so I would be grateful if you guys out there could send me some advice . links to websites etc that I can read up on to understand what i need to do to get my darling back on his 4th foot again so the surgery is successful .... specific queries I have are as under :

1) how long after an FHO should physio begin??
2) how much of walking can Caesar do (surgery happened on 18th sep 09) .. how does it progress??
3) exactly what kind of physio do I need to do ? I will have to do things at home as we dont really have professional help of that kind here.

All, need help!!!!

My little one had FHO surgery last year and it is easier and a lot better to provide links to youtube videos which show you how to do therapy for your dog. I think you need to get started right away.

In addition to these exercises, you should do a bicycle exercise. This involves moving the leg in a round, bicycling type movement. I started doing this exercise on my dog two weeks after surgery. Swimming would also be excellent.
