Just give the dog a bath. There are some shampoos out there for dogs that are for dandruff. Kind of like Head and Shoulders for humans, but for dogs.

Picking problem? Whats that? Do you pick the dandruff off your dog? I don't think theres a shampoo for that. Its more of a habbit that you should get rid of.

What does that have to do with your dogs dandruff problem? We can't help you with your habits. Only your dogs dandruff problems. Thats all.

Might be her food. May need something with a little more fats in the diet. Also, try brushing the dog more.

I remember reading somewhere that stress can cause a dog to have dandruff too. As far as the picking problem, well I have the same problem and have had it since a child. I could quit smoking after 10 years but I still have not found a way to totally control the picking problem, if you find a way let me know

Treat the problem with an effective anti-itch shampoo, such as EQyss Micro-Tek, and use the leave-on Micro-Tek Spray or Gel. ANTI-ITCH FORMULA Micro-Tek Medicated Shampoo is the fast acting, aids in the control of problems upon contact, using a trademarked formula developed from NASA research on the decontamination of astronauts. Combines ingredients to create the healthiest environment for healing.
Minimizes skin problems:
FLEA BITES
SEBORRHEA
HOT SPOTS
DRY ITCHY SKIN
Controls dry flaky skin conditions. Eliminates Pet odor. Environmentally friendly. NON-TOXIC. DEA FREE.

I'm not affiliated in any way with EQyss, but have used their products on rescues with HORRIBLE skin problems, including bald spots, and their Mega-Tek Rebuilder promoted new hair growth (chemo patients use it to stimulate rapid hair re-growth) can be used on dry noses, and cracked paws. I love this stuff, and use it myself. You can buy it at KvVet (www.kvvet.com) or go directly to their website to read about each product at: www.eqyss.com I buy mine from KvVet when they've got what I want (no shipping charges), and I get it within 2 days from ordering.

STOP picking! You could give your dog a secondary infection, and then you'll really have a mess on your hands! It's not going to heal up when you pick! (Every time you have the urge to pick, go get the leash and take the dog for a walk! LOL It's called Behavior Modification! Bad habits = need for change! I know, it can be hard, but try replacing the picking behavior with something else, until the urge to pick passes!)

when teddy used to get really itchy i would give him half a antihistermine in am and half at night with food this would help releave the syptoms

if ur dog hasnt godt fleas or a skin prob its most prob dry skin so i would bye a good shampoo a gental/mild one i like oatmeal or everning primrose

then with food add a tea spoon of oil a day with the meals u can use just plain vegtable oil but i like using the everning primrose oil or omeaga 3and6 oils i use any thing whats to hand that day if u give oil daily for a about a week u should see a difreance its also good to as it helps look after the joints of dogs so when they get older it can help prolong the health of them

i also feed tinned fisdh wich is oily like pilchids or macral any thing in oil 1 a week

hope this has helped

Re: Dandruff problem! Please help!

Well the only way i control mine is to put water on whatever it is i'm picking. Unless its a scab, then i dont know what to do with that, butter maybe?
