Green Discharge

I have a five month old German Sheperd/Rott pup. Lately, he has been having some greenish discharge at the tip of his penis. It is not much, just enough to crusty up his hairs (which usually stay trimmed short - I heard that was best). If I need to go to the vet, I am more than happy to do that. However, I don't want to do that if the problem is a simple infection or whatever that can be cleared up with some basic meds. What do you all think?

Sorry about the pop up on this page, but it may help you in your decision. IMO, if this is new, go to the vet.

In my household:

Green = vet

Now sometimes Hades gets some discharge around that area, and I've heard the name for it before... Darn it! It is normal apparently.

I go with what my mom always said to me, and that's "Green means infection"

If it is an infection and just needs meds, you'll have to go to your vet's anyways to get the meds.

Thank you both. I know green usually means you can't ignore it, I just thought I would check here first! Again, thank you. Vet will be seen ASAP.

Re: Green Discharge

My boy had this happen as well. Is your dog neutered? If not, sometimes the natural "juices" that expel from an unaltered male can have a green tinge to it. If it is just a tinge, I'd say he's just fine, however if it is dark green, a vet trip is in order. But, it's never a bad idea to get him checked out. If he is fixed, I'd definately suggest taking him in.
