my pit bull had 20 puppies

my poor baby Peaches was in labor (a week ago) for three days and had 20 puppies...only two have survived...the last several pups were still born and smelled horrible...Peaches didn't eat for those few days and is just skin and bones now...what can I feed her to help some of the weight come back?...I have good dry dog food and she only eats bits of it...are there any supplements I can get for her?...she seems so sad and defeated my little heart is breaking...any suggestions?? thanks

What I will suggest is have her looked at by a veterinarian immediately. So many puppies inside of her body has a very harsh toll on your dog. She's deficient in fluids, protein, and hemoglobin - ontop of the fact that the puppies were dead and decomposing INSIDE her body, exposing her to infection and bacteria.

3 days in labor ! I sure hope that you took her to the vet. If you didn't get her their asap could mean her life. Infection's could set in and with her down on her weight and worn out, it wouldn't take much to lose her.

Re: my pit bull had 20 puppies

Just a quick update, Peaches is doing great!! She's almost back to her old self. The bad thing though is all the puppies died. I don't think they were fully developed. The strongest one lasted only a couple of weeks. I am getting Peaches fixed in a couple of weeks to keep this from happening again.

I'm glad to hear you're spaying her. You're very lucky you didn't lose her to this.
