My little girl is sick

My Rottwieller is getting sick at night, she is throwing up sometimes three times in one night. I know that she is not getting into anything around the house, someone is there all day. She eats in the morning, and everything is fine untill around 6-8pm at night. I was wondering if giving her soft water to drink is giving her trouble.

Thanks, Tom

Send a message via Yahoo to cshellenberger
Please get her checked out by a vet, she may have a serious problem with her digestive tract.

[She eats in the morning]

Is that the only meal your puppy gets? Puppies need more than one meal per day---How old is your puppy?

She usually does not eat all of the food in the morning, and saves some for later in the day. She is 4 years old, and is eating very well, and pooping alot. Or at least as much as usual.

I would probably call the vet but I would also try splitting the one meal into two--one in the am and one in the evening and see if that helps.

I will be taking her into the vet tomorrow morning, I'll let you all know what they find out.

Well I took her to the vet today, and he ran all kinds of tests on her and found nothing wrong. He said that she must have a slow moving digestive tract. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Your dog takes longer to digest its food then normally. I think that should give you an even better reason to split her one meal a day into 2 meals a day so it gives her more time to digest all the food.

Sounds like she's hungry and has "empty stomach syndrome," as I call it. Yellow = bile. Feed the dog twice a day, and give a small snack before bedtime. Feeding once a day forces the dog to eat all the food s/he requires at one sitting. Not a healthy choice, and I think Rotties are at risk for Bloat, too.

My male will gag and puke if he isn't fed three meals plus two snacks daily. It's just the way he is. When he's fed the way his body requires, he's fine.

Good luck!

I totally agree. In fact, if the dog is under 6 months of age I would be feeding it 3 times a day--over 6 months twice a day.

This sounds just like my dog! I've been trying to figure him out, b/c sometimes he'll go days and be fine, and sometimes, hurk, hurk, gag yellow/clear slime in the morning. He always wakes me or finds me to puke, it's been on tile or linoleum or in a bucket everytime.

At first I though it was salt on the roads b/c of our icky winter, and I've been very thorough about wiping or washing his feet when we come in. But - I just bought him new food - Purina this time - and he's been chowing down like crazy for two days. At first he was on iams, and was finicky, then I got nurtro, and he liked that at first -maybe he just gets bored with things?

Re: My little girl is sick

Well thank you guy's for all the info. I'm now feeding her twice a day, and she does get enough treats believe me. I will try feeding her three times a day, I would not mind if she put a little more weight on even though the vet says she is at the right weight.

Thanks, Tom
