Dog Cancer?

Sounds like a sad subject, and it is. I had to put my Murphy, a 5 year old Golden Retriever down because of cancer of the upper leg and lungs. He started limping in April and now he is gone. I am heart broken. The reason I post this is because it seems from what I read, that a lot of dogs are dying from cancer. Did this happen to you? If so, please share. I want to know if it just happens to Goldens. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I do hope Murphy's memories will comfort you in your grieving. I don't believe Bone Cancer is specifically common to just Goldens. I was watching the Animal Planet just the other week and the alpha wolf at a zoo in Lousiana had to have his front leg amputated because of bone cancer, but sadly he could not overcome the disease.

Unhappy

Yes it did. Two times to both goldens. Brandy died of cancer on her own and Bud had to be put down. They were taking Brandy in for x-rays and she died on the table. Sad but true. At least she died when she was ready. Bud did not. Of course mine were older but it was still hard

I know that Rottweilers also get bone cancer as my mom's rotti had to be pts at age 8 after a very quick progression of the disease. It started as a lump on one leg and a limp, and within 6 months she was gone.

I'm sorry for your loss.
