Should biopsy be done?

My dog is a 11-year-old terrier mix. She had a small growth removed from her eyelid 18 months ago. It is back and slightly bigger, so she is scheduled for surgery again on Tuesday. The vet suggests getting the growth biopsied, even though there is a very small chance that it is cancer, but was vague about what we'd do next if it is cancer. I'm reluctant to put her through the difficulty of radiation or chemo, so don't know if a biopsy would be helpful or not. Also, it is pretty expensive to have done, and I'd rather spend the money on making her comfortable.

Does anyone have any insight about what I should do? I adore this little girl, and the thought of her being in pain is killing me.

Re: Should biopsy be done?

I would have the biopsy done just so that I would know what I was dealing with. I agree that making her comfortable would be my main priority. If she were mine I would not do chemo if it turned out to be malignant. I would just keep her as comfortable as possible and enjoy her for rest of her days. IMO
