Loose stool

My baby started having loose stools at 5AM today..She was in her crate and started crying..I took her out and she went right away out side..15 min later out again..This went on till about 9Am..She didn't eat any food till 2PM and then she also ate again at 8PM and had a loose BM but not has bad.

So here is my question..I went from Purina to Science Diet...For a week I tried to get her to eat it..She picked the Purina and only ate Science Diet on a rare occasion...So I got my money back and got the Nitro--Puppy dry food...She ate it last night at 6PM and like normal no BM after eating...

Now my problem is and Please do not laugh. My wife said she dropped a Colace stool softener on the floor and was not sure if the dog got to it...She can't find it and I din not know till about an hour ago she did this.

If the dog ate the colace at say 4PM would it still be in her system..Also would it cause this problem...They are not extra strength or anything,,CVS generic red hard pills..I do not think she would eat it because of the problem I had giving her meds after the spay operation...I had to wrap it in cheese.

The only change in her diet is the food...So far she went out at 7PM and is sleeping right now...I hope it is out of her system'

Also could it be related to her teething and loss of teeth...

Well if you've read the bottle and it's not toxic to dogs, which I would doubt, I'd give her a few tablespoons of some canned pumpkin.

I give it to my guys if we've switched foods, or if they get diarrhea. They seem to like it and it's a quick, fast surefire way to stiffen up their stools

Thanks I will try that I think I got some in the house..Yes it is non toxic

How much Pumpkin do you give them Dog is about 45lbs now

Well she is better today. She still got me up about 5:30 and rushed to take a crap. It was a little loose and she was whimpering has she looked for a spot to go the second time.

Then she went about half hour ago my wife took her out and said it was solid.

Two tablespoons should do the trick

Yep, the pumpkin works quite well. But if it's something that happens a lot and you can't explain it, like you've switched foods, or they had a bone or human food etc, you should go to the vets to make sure it isn't a serious issue.
