Weiner Dog back surgery

My little dog has recently had back surgery. It has been a two weeks past the time that her vet said she would walk. When we called the vet he said that it could take up to a year for her to use her back legs again. Has anyone had a similar situation? Thanks for your help.

My mother in laws friend just had the surgery done on their dog. He was only 5 I think and they told her that it could take awhile to regain his back leg usage if at all. They said it was because he jumped alot. I have weiner dogs but I try to teach them not to jump to help protect their backs. I had a friend have this happen to their beagle as well but the beagle died from it before it could have surgery. We will be sending up doggy prayers.
