Hallie just came out of her first heat and her female genitals are discolored, a dark black/brown. Is this normal? The swelling is gone and she isn't acting different and isn't attracting males anymore but her external genitalia is a blackish color and that has me worried!She's not in pain and will let me around the area, but is this normal? We do plan on getting her spayed in the future.
That's pretty normal. Some bitches will go back to normal (color) but some remain darker. Just watch for a discharge and any signs of infection. There's a chance she could pyo after being in season so just be sure to keep an eye on her and if you see anything out of the ordinary (except for the darker color...again, that's normal for a lot of bitches) then get her checked out.
