Question One more question about Ph levels :)

Ok... I hope I am not being a pest, but I have another question regarding Ph level in my 2 yr old doxie male (Scrappy) Any info on why after he eats his meal his Ph will jump up to 7.5 or 8? It usually goes down (5.5-6.0) by morning up until recently here though it has not changed. I feed him 1 cup Control formula (dry) and about 1 tbsp. s/d wet food. It's also funny how today his protien and ketones as well as blood in urine have gone down, but now his Ph is up....arrrrrrrrgh! I know it has got to be something in his diet but I cant figure it out. Am thinking about going to Gulf Coast Vet Specialist here in Houston, but have heard they are pretty pricey. Maybe they can just help me manage his diet some how. Please respond with anymore info/suggestions. Am going crazy trying to figure this out.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know about Ph levels, but it may work like glucose levels. In diabetes, you watch blood glucose levels. The way that works is that the food with high levels of fast absorbing carbs is converted to glucose fast, so blood sugar levels rise for several hours after eating. If the body makes insulin, or insulin is injected, it converts the blood sugar to either fat or is used by cels, and it slowly goes back down. Mybe something like this is happening with PH, but it is strictly a guess.
