How to remove object from ear

My daughter moved a couple hours away to the sticks. She has a young border collie who got the pricky part of a foxtail weed stuck deep in his ear today. She can't find a vet that is open on this holiday weekend to take him to. Apparently it's quite deep in his ear, and very bothersome to him. She called me to ask if I could get online and try to find help for her! Does ANYONE have any ideas on what she can do to try to get it out, or make him more comfortable?? I'm sure she won't be able to get to a vet until after the 4th. This is very upsetting for her and for the dog.... Please help!!
Thanks so much!

Debbie

I would not be messing around with my dog's ears. She needs to find an emergency vet office. If she calls her regular vet's office, there should be a recording referring her to one (they do that around here anyway). If not she should call 411 or check the net.

If you call an e vet, you cna ask what to use. Six is right, there are things you can do, but I hesitate to elaborate, mainly because I can't see the problem. If the eardrum is compromised, you might do more harm than good. WHere is your daughter located?

oooh that's a horrible situation, I would just find a vet. I would be to nervous to mess around with my dog's ears. You can really cause some damage if you go about it the wrong way.

I hope your problem gets fixed soon! Good luck.
Let us know how it goes..
