4 month old puppy and vaccinations

i have a 4 month old boston terrier and he just got a DISTEMPER/PARVO/CORONA vaccination. In the area where he got the shot there is some swelling. he was shaking but that stopped after we put a blanket on him. also, i gave him a small dose of childrens benadryl to see if that reduces the swelling. should this be a concern or is this a normal side effect? my vet is CLOSED now and the only other place to take him is about an hour away. thanks so and any quick replies would be extremely helpful.

The swelling is normal. Next time, massage the injection site for a few seconds afterward. It helps distribute the vaccine and reduce the swelling.

As for the side effect of shaking, I don't know. If you're concerned about an adverse reaction, please call the e-vet and see what they say. Most will be more than happy to give you quick advice over the phone if possible or advise you if you need to come in.

Really! It's not recommended by any vaccine protocols I've read. Matter of fact, it's recommended NOT to vaccinate for corona.

Here's the link to the latest vaccination protocols released in 2006 by the AMVA:

https://secure.aahanet.org/eweb/dyna...cineGuidelines

It tells you which vaccines are required and why, etc.
