HELP- My dogs hair is falling out

My dog is little over a year 1 1/2 he has been having health issues since i brought him home. Off and on he has had some sort of bacteria infection. We thought we finally had it all taken care of in January of 08. About every 4-5 weeks on the dot he gets Diarrhea really bad. Everytime I would take a stool sample in it would come back negative. In May he started loosing hair in circluar pattern on his right side it went to two spots then he lost all of his hair on his belly, inner legs and around his nose, lips, and chin. I took him in the did a skin scrapping it came back negative. In August he was still continuing to loose his hair and he had diarrhea again so I took him in and they did a fecal test. He ended up having a really bad bacteria infection. They gave me antibiotics and I swithced his food from Iams to Science Diet. About a month later his hair started to grow back. In December of 08 his hair started to fall out again by the handfulls. They did a fecal and a blood test they both came back negative.
Through out the year and a half i have had him he has had the diarrhea issues every 4-5 weeks he has it for 2-4 days and it clears up. Lately his mood has even changed he seems really depreased and does not have any of his energy.

I am looking for any help or suggestions. I just want to figure out what is going on with my pup. Thank you for any suggestions.

Have you had a full panel bloodwork run? And have you been going to the same vet the whole time?

The first thing I would do is run some bloodwork to see if something isn't in balance. Second thing would be to get a second opinion from another vet. If your vet is running fecals and skin scrapes in house then things could be easily missed giving off a false negative. Getting a second opinion may give some more ideas and thoughts about whats going on. If you still have no answers then I would consider going to a specialist.

Yes they recently did a full panel bloodwork test it cam back negative. I have been going to the same vet as well.

Did the full panel bloodwork include testing his thyroid?

I'm not sure on the thyroid. I will have to check that out.

Is your dog itchy in those areas? Taylor had major hair loss in the exact same places, big bald patches on his belly and his snout area was raw and bald too. He had severe allergies, it was something in the environment (ragweed) but it can be food as well. When he went through these bouts he would also get skin infections, so he was medicated for both and it was hard to watch and harder to figure out what was wrong. Now I know the initial symptoms so it's easy to catch the reaction beofre it advances, I'm lucky too that we moved away from that town and it's gotten much better!
Definitley see if he's itchy and ask your vet if it could be a reaction to something.

Is it possibly an allergy? Did you get allergy testing? If he's allergic to something in his food, it COULD cause those symptoms.
