Question Pet Insurance Catch

After reading RBarks's post, I thought I would ask this question I have wondered for some time.

So pet insurance... when I look it up online many of the companies coverage starts the very next day (midnight). So, if I knew my dog was getting sick, and anticipated it being an expensive ordeal, could I sign up for pet insurance that night and take her to the vet in the morning and be covered?

What is the catch?

Even if I was locked in to the insurance for a year, it could still end up being cheaper than say a $7000 surgery and vet care...

I would appreciate some help with this one.

Re: Pet Insurance Catch

I might depend if they cover pre-existing conditions

....and if they can prove that your pet has a pre-existing condition they can probably refuse coverage....that would be my guess

Re: Pet Insurance Catch

I have insurance and it did not cover Cupid's preexisting condition. So I expect it will be good in future, but it won't help with future bladder stones. (Of course, I'm hoping for no future bladder stones, but you know what I mean.)
