Puppy Diarrhea--Help

I have a 13 week old Siberian Husky. He has been in his new home a little over a week. He had a solid stool once when I first got him home but everytime after it has been diarrhea. I changed his food because I could not find what the breeder suggested. She suggested an alternative. How long should I wait before changing the food or taking the lil guy to the vet? Are there any remedies I can try at home? He doesnt seem dehydrated and has tons of energy, BTW

I would take him to the vet. I also wouldn't switch food again, give the food a month or so.

Any new dog to the household should be seen by a vet within the first 72 hours. So I would take the dog to a vet and take along a fresh stool specimen so they can check it for parasites.

Every dog after switching their food without doing it slowly will have diarrhea. When you switch a dogs food expecially a puppy, you need to give them what they originally been eating and mix in a bit of the new stuff, and slowly add more new stuff every time you feed them sometimes it may take 3 days..... The diarrhea will go away eventually, if not switch his food to something else that the vet suggests. Maybe Purina Puppy Chow? I don't think you have a big issue.

I changed my puppies food a week after I brought her home because she was having diareah. The vet had already cleared her so I figured it was her food. She had been on it sence weened ( I got her at a pet store if that tells you anything). I switched her food and she still had diareah for a week but high energy. Then her stools gradually firmed up. It takes a while when they are switched quickly but I realy didnt have a choice just as you didnt.

Thanks all, Ill just stick with it. He is a great puppy except for the loose stools. He rarely barks, seems to be used to his crate and goes there often. Overall, I am really happy, I just wanted to make sure this wasnt a big deal.

You might want to get him checked for coccidia.
