10 weeks old and I'm a little concerned.

Hi all,

My two puppies are 10 wks old now. Two weeks ago I brought them to the vet ( the day after bringing them home). They got their first vaccination and he wormed them. Afterwards there was clear evidence of dead worms in their poo. The vet gave me worming tablets to give to them at 12wks but I'm concerned they may be full of worms again. Both their bellies are fairly swollen and they are a little subdued and "off-form" tonight. They are not constipated or dehydrated ( they wee and poo lots). For your informaion I am feeding them 3 times per day with a mix of puppy pouched food, diluted milk and some bread, according to my vets instructions. He recommends that they should be on a proper formulated dry food mix by 16wks. So, what do you think, should I give them the worming tablet now?

Incidentally, they are never left unsupervised when they are outdoors, but we live on farmland and puppies being puppies they DO pick things up from the ground.

Seeing worms in a dog's poop is a GOOD thing - it means they're leaving the pup! Yes, you should deworm them again. I have to do that to my new pup, too, who had quite a few worms in his poop the first couple days after being dewormed before.

If you're concerned about them not acting "right" or seeming to be "off", though, a vet visit sure wouldn't hurt since they're so young and should never really be "off" at that age

This did not happen to me, but a close friend of mine just got a dog shortly after us. It's belly was very bloated as well. Their vet suggested to change foods and the dog's belly quickly went to a normal size. When in doubt though, the vet will probably know.
