Drinking salt water

It must be this girl's first time near an ocean because it just astonishes her whenever we get close. The problem is she likes to wade in, and either drink or tongue the water. She opens her mouth a little and its really herd to tell if she's just tasting it, or actually drinking.

Is this dangerous and how could we stop it?

Re: Drinking salt water

I would imagine it would become dangerous, but I'm not sure. The reason I am posting is because this reminds of my boyfriend's boxer. We went to the shore and Harley (his boxer) went right in and gulped up a ton of saltwater. Then he pukes it up. You think he would stop there.....nope! He started gulping more, then would puke. He was so excited by this. We were trying to get him to stop but were laughing too hard because he was so excited to be drinking saltwater than puking it up over and over again. Finally we dragged him out and quickly walked away from all the puke spots drifting in the ocean. Yuck.

Re: Drinking salt water

I'd assume that it wouldn't be good for them seeing how it isn't for people and dogs probably wouldn't drink enough to have long term affects. Would think it would make them sick and come out one end or the other
