Allergy test

Hello

this is my first post to this board. what a way to introduce myself right? I have a 3 year old Rottie who has been informally diagnosed with with allergies. I have had her at the vet about 4 times with each time getting progressively worse. Currently her one eye is swollen and pussing. Knawling/licking her paws to the point where they are bleeding and her body is breaking out in these rashes that look like a blister then pop. This causes her to knawl and scratch her body also. She was prescribed pregnazone and Baytril along with eye drops, ear cleaner the whole nine yards. Each time she was on these medicines it cleared her up for the time being then once she finished the symptoms occurred again. I also switched her food about 2 months ago to Wellness.

I just spoke with the vet and asked what my next step could be. I don’t want to take her back to the vet for a “band aid” because not only is it getting expensive but also isn’t fixing the problem. She suggested getting a skin graf. They would put her to sleep with anastegia and get a few samples of her skin, ship them off to the lab then come back with what exactly is causing the allergies. Once the results are back I am under the impression that they will be able to tell me what the root cause of the problem and be able to treat it. The testing will run $250-$300.

My main question to the group is has anyone gone down this route? If so what were the findings and how did the doctor treat this? I am under the impression that once they come back with results saying “Madison is allergic to x, y, z” they will then prescribe a specific medicine to treat the allergies. I guess this is my next best step in finding what is causing the breakouts.

Just wanted anyones imput or experience with going through this testing. Thanks

How have things been going on the wellness so far? From my understanding it can take a while to adjust to a new food. What formula are you feeding?
I am asking so many q's about foods because it sounds food related, I have no advice on the testing, sorry.
